Mr Chela is a 32 years old polygamist with twelve children from his two wives. He is writing his MAP on pig production. He has always kept pigs but was very discouraged when he lost about ten pigs to an epidemic and people in his village said that it was witch craft and that every year pigs are going to die like that from witch craft.
When Mr Chela enrolled in the FFS of nkanchi three years ago, he learned about the various diseases of pigs like African swine fever and Swine erysipelas. He also learned about vaccination and improved ways of feeding pigs and taking good care of them. This has enabled him to build back his stock of pigs to sixteen after selling eight pigs to pay for his children’s fees.
Mr chela is very happy with his FFS because it has helped him to overcome superstitions by giving him knowledge on things he used to consider as mysteries. He is very confident of the future in pig farming.
